Kykuya lawn is a hard wearing, medium blade grass, which is suitable for all domestic applications.
Kikuyu prefers full sun.
It is a fast growing, creeping grass that is suitable for high traffic areas.
Kikuyu is a warm season grass and as such will go dormant and loose colour over Winter in colder climates.
Normally we can expect to see the discolouration from June to September but this will depend on the seasons and how cold the weather is.
If you are in a frosts prone area for example you will experience a longer dormancy period than a beachside suburb.
The upside to these warm season grasses is that they are very hard wearing and do like the heat and will use 2- 3 times less water during peak heat periods than Cool Season grasses.
KIKUYU OVERSOWN WITH RYEGRASS:
We oversow some of our warm season varieties of turf with a transitional Ryegrass for sale from April to September, to help overcome the issues of installing warm season grass varieties in the colder months.
The Ryegrass is actively growing thru the winter months and will hold the sod to the surface until the spring.
We do recomend you spray out the Ryegrass at the start of spring and we offer a spraying service if required.
Please call the office for a quoation.
